North Brittany - The Emerald Coast

3 hours from Paris

Light House on the Emerald Coast

The rugged Emerald Coast of North Brittany owes its name to the colour of the sea, but also with reference to its preciousness.  It will charm you with its clear (cold!) waters, ancient Celtic sites, and sophisticated sea-side resorts.

The landscapes are beautiful and colours forever shifting with the tides, the wind and the clouds. It is truly a very picturesque area. The tides are a sight in themselves, being the highest in Europe (during the top spring equinox tides, the sea goes out 15 kilometers from the coast and comes in again very quickly). One may well fall asleep on the beach and upon waking up, find that the sea has gone! The other way round can be dangerous though: don’t get caught by the tide coming in...

The sea food will be amazing, as well, of course, as the famous crèpes, the Brittan specialty.
