Normandy

2 ½ hours from Paris

One the of quaintest harbours in France

Normandy is the closest beach and country-side destination from Paris.

Its changing light and skies, the lush green of the fields against the white cliffs and the sea have inspired painters through the ages, especially the impressionists. Chief among them, of course, is Monet whose paintings of the Etretat cliffs are some of his most famous.

You will be enchanted by the shortest river in France, its cress farm and water mills going through a jewel of a village.

Famous Normandy cliffsA abbey in the middle of the sea

A walk to the top of splendid white cliffs; a dinner by one of the quaintest harbours in France; and a breathtaking view of an abbey rising from its rock in the middle of the sea. Add to this, the highest tides in Europe, the sea going in, as the saying goes, “as fast as a galloping horse” (during the top spring equinox tides, the sea goes out 15 kilometers from the coast and comes in again very quickly).

And, of course, the most famous cheese in the world-Camembert!!!
